‘Can you build a mosaic without glue?’ has been a fantastic question to explore after Christmas since it has involved lots of practical investigations and considerable creative thinking. We have created a mosaic from lots of small pieces of paper and used a printing technique. In addition, the entire year group went to Ely Museum and examined some Roman tesserae that was over 2000 years old. It was fascinating to touch actual artefacts and then compare with replicas. However, one of the trips highlights had to be seeing Yigit dressed in a Roman togas – he looked so commanding as a Roman citizen.
