Dear Parents / Carers,
RE: Covid 19 update
This is an unprecedented situation. In my many years of headship, I cannot remember a time like this. We are constantly being given updated advice and will review our practice accordingly.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister made it clear that schools should remain open. However, his subsequent guidance about self-isolation, particularly for vulnerable groups, has meant that schools in the area are working with reduced staff and pupil numbers. School closures will only happen when the staffing ratio puts the safety of your children in danger. At the present time, we are able to remain open for the foreseeable future.
However, we do need to make some changes and we ask for your support in delivering them. Tomorrow’s parent consultation event is to be postponed. All assemblies and gatherings, such as the school performance for Years 3 and 4 and Mothering Sunday afternoon, will be postponed until later in the summer term. All planned school trips will not go ahead and we will endeavour to reorganise these events when the situation has calmed.
We ask that parents follow the Government’s guidance. Under these circumstances, it is not for us to decide whether you and your family need to attend school or not. Please let us know through the normal channels if your child will not be attending school and the reason for this; register codes will be allocated accordingly. Please note that if you are self-isolating then children should be staying at home and undertaking educational activities. Within the next few days, we will be sending all families links to additional learning opportunities. We understand this is not ideal but are working tirelessly within the confines of the Government’s advice.
Please keep you and your loved ones safe and we hope that normal routines can be resumed at the earliest opportunity. Any additional information that we feel would be useful to you will be sent out as soon as we are able to.
Many thanks for your continued support and understanding.
Kind regards,
Kate Coates
